Reality vs CGI

Funny story, one day we were walking out of the movie theater and my daughter Fia says, “I want to be in a Marvel movie.” I said, “Ooook…” We kept walking to the car. I thought to myself well what if… and guess what?

Long story short, she ended up having an opportunity to be in a Marvel movie. No kidding.

Marvel does not play when they are filming. They give you a codename to refer to the movie when you go on set. No kidding, lol Google “Big Salad Thor Love and Thunder”. These are to protect the movie and rightfully so, who wants info getting out before it’s supposed to? No one. It’s normal for movies to to have code names or working titles. It happens all the time. Well when we are called in to set for several days for Big Salad we had to “turn in” our phones. They didn’t take our phones away, they just give us a pouch to put them in. We always had our phones with us but we just couldn’t use them because only the AD could unlock our phones. If we needed to use the phone, the AD would unlock it and we had designated areas to use them in. No pictures what so ever! Even Chris Hemsworth had to be hidden while he was in his costume outside of the set.
The kids did get to meet Chris Hemsworth which was super cool for them. He was there with them when they were filming being captured in the bone cage. The parents got to watch from a distance. Some of the moms really enjoyed that part! Some of us were leaning on the Goat Boat thing they used to travel in the movie. It was very cool to watch. I remember thinking, “Wow that’s really his real voice.” lol. Fia said when they were in the bone looking cage with Chris Hemsworth, they were just chatting with him. “He was cool!” She said he gave her a fist bump too.

Pics or it didn’t happen… I don’t have pics because Marvel locks our phones up but here’s her tiktok video explaining at the end of this post there’s a video of her explaining why she was so dirty, but for now… here are a couple of photos stills of the movie of the before and after of the Visual effects from the Art of VFX website. Fia is in green standing at the front turned around. This is before the visual effects were added for the movie. It’s pretty amazing to see. Thank you WetaFX for these images.

So here’s the after. This is pretty amazing how they can do visual effects. Fia’s in the movie in a couple of spots. You can see her when she’s in the cage and Thor visits them I think for the 2nd time. She’s right behind him. She’s in the scene of them arriving at the center of the universe which is what the movie still is of. In the movie you can see her turn around. Then she’s in the scene when she raises her weapon and the camera pans out from the kids. It was exciting to see this process. The VFX people are amazing at what they can do!
