Old & New

Old Hudson

Old doesn’t mean trash. Once, I was on set with some parents talking about how we no longer see our age as ancient like we did in our youth. We recalled when our parents turned 40 and how we thought it was so close to death then. It’s not. I sit here now past 40 recalling my young mindset. Unfortunately old gets passed for new but looking into the eyes of an older person is just as awe inspiring as looking into the eyes of a baby. It’s a beauty in aging, rust and all. If you ask any older person about cars they may say, “They don’t make ‘em like that anymore.” It’s true which makes it valuable.

Society, items, technology, living in general is so different than when we were all younger. It’s ok to reminisce, but it’s not ok to stay glorifying the past. We have to keep moving forward while honoring what has been. I walked by this old car and thought about the people that must have ridden in it and the places those wheels have been. It’s got a history like we do. It’s a beauty that can’t be relived but while I looked at this old Hudson, I thought about the progress made in the automobile industry. GPS, electric, heated seats, cooled seats, and I appreciate it. Flashing back to blazing hot seats in the Texas Summers in the 80s… yeah progress is great too!
